I was commissioned to draw this portrait of Rowan Williams and was asked to incorporate some of his favourite landscapes, his faith and his pastimes into the picture if at all possible. I combined collage work with pencil and pastel drawing to create a dreamlike, slightly surreal image. The black and white version was used in the print and online editions of the magazine. I can only hope Rowan Williams approves.
